Over 5 thousand business entities operate in the town. About 99 % of them are private enterprises. Krosno is an industrial centre of great diversification of sectors in which particular businesses decided to base and develop their operations here.

Glass Industry Centre of Poland
Krosno is the largest glass industry centre in the country. While other Polish glass manufacture centres are based close to the places where raw material (special sand) is found, Krosno has rich natural gas underground reservoirs which provide energy for glass melting processes, which is an advantage, as glass manufacture is an energy-consuming industry. Long-standing tradition in production and decorating glassware is also a regionally decisive factor for the development of this sector in Krosno.

 

Krośnieńskie Huty Szkła (Krosno Glass Factory) „KROSNO” S.A. is the largest glass manufacturer in Poland and one of leading players on the sector world market. Founded in 1923, the company has long-standing experience.
The Krosno glass is produced in two kinds: both as handmade and as formed on automatic production lines. The factory has its own Design Centre, where the world industrial design trends are initiated.
The high quality of the Krosno glassware is widely valued and the company is awarded prestigious prizes and distinctions, including Gold Medals at the International Poznań Fairs and the Promotion Emblem of „Teraz Polska” (Now, Poland). More than 90% of handmade production and about 60% of machine-made products are exported to more than sixty countries. Krosno S.A. was one of the first five Polish companies quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 1991.
In 2004 Krosglass S.A.was set up as a result of separation of the Glass Fibre Facility from the main Glass Factory

 

Huta Szkła (Glass-Works) DECO-GLASS Sp. z o.o.(Ltd) has been operating on the market since 1993. It produces handmade artistic and domestic glassware, various kinds of lampshades made of transparent and coloured glass, using diverse decoration techniques. About 90% of its products are exported to dozens of countries all over the world.

 

 

 

Villa Glass Studio Sp. z o.o. specializes in decorative glass products. Glass doors, being – in fact – a multi-colour low relief, are a novelty product. They are made in the fusing process, in which a glass pane is shaped in high temperatures.

 

 

High quality decorative glass is also produced by „Makora” Huta Pięknego Szkła Sp. z o.o. (Works of Beautiful Glass, Ltd). Vases, various bowls, cake stands and other decorative and domestic articles of modern shapes and original colours create the brand image of the company.

 

 

Huta Szkła (Glass-Works) „Józefina”, set up in 1980, produces handmade glassware of high artistic value. Its collection includes vases, bowls, candlesticks; both in transparent and stained glass, frosted, clouded, obscured, etched and acid-embossed as well as decorated by grinding and puntying.

 

Zakład Zdobienia Szkła „Glasmark” Sp. z o.o. (Glass Decorating Works, Ltd) specializes in decorating glassware with the use of various techniques, including: grinding, sanding, engraving, etching, painting and silk-screen printing.

 „Decor”, firm owned by Witold Śliwiński, an artist from Krosno, designs and makes real masterpieces in glass.

Figurines and compositions combining glass with other materials like brass, stone or steel deserve special attention among other artistic works created in the workshop.
The firm designs and produces occasional statuettes and a variety of advertising and promotional items.

„Mika – Glass” is a small family glass-works offering decorative articles to ornament house interiors and gardens. The firm is famous in Poland and in Europe for spectacular shows it holds to demonstrate how the handmade glassware is produced.

Apart from the aforementioned glass-works there are other smaller glassware manufacturers and glass-decorating workshops operating in Krosno and its environs.

 

Aviation area
Krosno is an important centre of the „Aviation Valley”. Aircraft industry and related sectors are triving. Qualified and experienced engineering staff is the town’s advantage as well as the local airfield which is to be expanded to provide the best possible conditions for the development of the aircraft manufactuting industry businesses.

 

 

 Goodrich Krosno Sp. z o.o. manufactures components for civilian and military aircraft landing gears for Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream, F16, Bombardier. New projects and process engineering solutions are implemented by the company every year to assure the highest possible quality of the products.

 

 

Lotnicze Zakłady Produkcyjno – Naprawcze „Aero – Kros”   Sp. z o.o. („Aero – Kros” Aircraft Manufacture and Repair Works, Ltd) has been continuing the traditions of the Aviation Repair Workshop of the Polish Aeroclub.

 

Their operations include: aviation equipment technical servicing and repairs; designing, production and servicing of ultra-light aircraft; historical aircraft reconstruction; distribution of aircraft/aviation materials and parts. The firm manufactures Exec 162 helicopter.

 
 

FK  ProTech Sp. z o.o. manufactures the following ultra-light planes: Fk 9 Mark IV, Fk 12 Comet, Fk 14 Polaris. The company was set up in 2006. Its major shareholder is Peter Funk, a German entrepreneur, the owner of FK Leichtflugzeuge.

 
 

Ultra-light planes/ aircraft are also manufactured by Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcyjno-Handlowo-Usługowe "EKOLOT" („EKOLOT” Production, Trade and Service Enterprise). The firm produces the following models: JK - 05L Junior, JK - 01A Elf, KR - 030 Topaz. It exports its products to the countries of the European Union, the USA, Canada, the Republic of South Africa, Thailand and Australia.  It was given 1st prize in the category of the „process engineering of the future” for light composite materials to be used in aircraft production, in the 5th edition of the competition: Polski Produkt Przyszłości (Polish Product of the Future), organized by Agencja Techniki i Technologii (Technology and Process Engineering Agency) under the honorary patronage of the Prime Minister.

 

FHU „Wietpol” specializes in metal parts machining and electroplating. It is the major sub-supplier of aircraft landing gear parts for Goodrich Krosno Sp. z o.o. (Ltd)

 

Peszke s.c. (civil partnership) is a designer and manufacturer of aircraft paraglide propellers as well as the GP 5 ultra-light plane.

 

Automotive industry

American DelphiCorporation, a leader in automotive products and systems, runs one of its facilities in Krosno.  Delphi Poland S.A. Branch in Krosno manufactures shock absorbers, suspension modules, exhaust manifolds with catalysts suction manifolds for combustion engines, gas springs and steering rods.
The company is the leader among shock absorbers suppliers in the Middle and Eastern Europe. The list of its customers includes Ferrari, BMW, Fiat, Opel, Daimler-Chrysler, Ford/Land Rover, Suzuki, Daewoo and PSA Peugeot Citroen Corporation.

 

FA Krosno S.A. is, in turn, a native firm producing gas springs, steering rods and ball-and-socket joints/ cup-and-ball joints as well as steel components for the shock absorbers manufactured by Delphi.

 

Cradle of the world oil industry

For more than 150 years crude oil and natural gas have been produced from the reservoirs situated in Krosno and its environs. In 1854 the first crude oil producing well was set up in Bóbrka near Krosno. Ever since the crude oil and natural gas production has been one of the major industries in the Podkarpacie region.

 
 

Budownictwo Naftowe „Naftomontaż” Sp. z o.o. (oil fields developer) deals with surface development of oil and natural gas fields, lays pipelines and  develops underground natural gas storage reservoirs.

 

Zakład Urządzeń Naftowych NAFTOMET Sp. z o.o. (oil-field equipment manufacturer) specializes in manufacture and repairs of drilling and production equipment and devices used on oil fields and natural gas fields, produces pressure tanks and storage tanks, builds and erects steel constructions/ structures / steelworks and repairs and overhauls compression-ignition engines and machine tools.

 

Furniture manufacturing centre

In 1992 Nowy Styl Sp. z o.o. was set up. The corporation manufactures office furniture including chairs, armchairs and other components of a modern office outfit and furnishing. The dynamic growth of the company brought it to the top among the European and worldwide leaders in furniture manufacturing. The Nowy Styl-branded products are exported to more than 60 countries of the world.

 

Krośnieńskie Fabryki Mebli „Krofam” Sp. z o.o. (Krosno Furniture Factory, Ltd) has had 70-year long tradition. The firm specializes in bathroom, kitchen and children furniture which is largely exported to the European Union countries.

 

Zakład Meblowy„Wist” (Furniture Workshop) makes customized fitments for furnishing flats and houses, offices, hotels and shops.

 

„Billkros”is a family establishment producing various types of luxury billiard/snooker tables.

 

Other industries

Cellfast S.A.specializes in plastics processing and produces garden hoses and accessories as well as water-spout systems. Cellfast counts among leading players in this industry in Europe.

 

 

WSK „PZL – Krosno” S.A. is an enterprise of long tradition in manufacture of gliders and light aircraft landing gears. Nowadays they specialize in manufacturing milk tanks (to be mounted on trucks) and milk cooling devices.

 

 

Krośnieńskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane KPB S.A.(Krosno Construction Enterprise, a Joint-Stock Company) has been in business since 1969. The firm, operating in the country at large, is a comprehensive contractor of public buildings and also performs refurbishment projects.

 

Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Inżynieryjnych i Drogowych in Krosno S.A. (Civil Engineering and Road-Making Enterprise, a Joint-Stock Company) deals with utilities installation and road-making.

 

Rejon Budowy Dróg i Mostów Sp. z o.o. (Road-Making and Bridges Construction Company, Ltd), operating in the region at large, carries out services in road-making, construction of bridges and repairs thereof.
