The town has been implementing a project called: „Setting Up a Multi-Regional Center of Flying Training on the Basis of the Refubished Airfield Facilities in Krosno – Stage I” („Utworzenie Ponadregionalnego Centrum Szkolenia Lotniczego w oparciu o zmodernizowaną infrastrukturę lotniska w Krośnie – I etap”). The project forms a part of the Podkarpackie Province Regional Operational Programme 2007-2013 and is partially financed by the European Union funds.

The objective of the project is to develop the training function of the airfield and to provide back-up facilities for business, which involves, among other things, establishing an investment zone in the airfield-neighbouring area with direct access to the runway.

As part of the project the following facilities shall be completed by 2013:

• paved runway: 1100 m x 30 m, with lighting and navigation facilities,
• taxiing road,
• helicopter landing ground,
• filling station,
• three grass runways intended for use depending on various wind directions,
• airfield fencing.

 

At later stages the runway is planned to be extended up to 2000 m and widened up to 45 m, which will allow gradual achieving the communication/transport function of the airfield (aero – taxi, cargo).
