Mountain Ballooning Contest

Since 2000 at the turn of April and May Krosno has been the host of Internationa Mountain Balooning Contest. Teams from Hungary, Lithuania, Słovakia, Czech Republic or Croatia arrive in droves at Krosno to compete in many spectacular events. The Krosno contest is one of the most important events of this kind in Poland. The specific landscape of the Podkarpacie region and its climatic conditions (strong winds and the lie of the land causing movements of air masses) require from the competitors full activating and motivation and showing their utmost skills. The contest is accopmanied by numerous fringe cultural and sports events held on the airfield such as concerts, aviation shows and night ballooning shows when the balloons seen in the light of flames look really spectacular and attract thousands of spectators, both local ones and visitors, but also tourists - ballooning frenzy enthusiasts.
