Burial Cemetery - Cmentarz Grzebalny (ul. Krakowska )
After the Austrian authorities banned burials on the courtyard at the parish church a new cemetery was in 1786 in the town at today’s Krakowska street. On a relatively small many monuments and tombstones survived mostly from the 19th and the beginning of the 20th century. The oldest tombstone which survived belongs to the Schaytter family (1832). A memorial obelisk from 1903, memorizing the insurgents of the January Uprising, was chiselled by Andrzej Lenik according to the design of Napoleon Nawarski. The old necropolis is burial place of numerous distinguished citizens of Krosno who rendered great service to our town, including Stanisław Bergman, Napoleon Nawarski, dr Juliusz Kallay, August Lewakowski. The cemetery was used for burial purposes until 1954. In 1984 it was listed as a monument of historical value and in 1990 the tombstone renovation works were commenced.
