Uherské Hradiště

Uherské Hradiště is a town in the Zlín Region of the Czech Republic, located 23 km (14 mi) south west of Zlín on the Morava River. It is the seat of the Uherské Hradiště District. The town proper has a population of 25,454 (2011 census), while the agglomeration it forms with the neighbouring towns of Staré Město and Kunovice is home to over 38,000 people.

The town was founded in 1257 by the Czech king Otakar II and is the center of Moravian Slovakia (Slovácko), a region known for its characteristic folklore, music, wine, costumes and traditions. The historic city center is historically preserved.
