Major industries

Over 5 thousand business entities operate in the town. Krosno is a major centre of industry and services with a great variety of branches. Our city is ranked high among business friendly cities and regularly gets the highest marks in investment attractiveness reports prepared for the Polish Investment and Trade Agency.

Glass Industry Centre of Poland
The history of glass production in Krosno started in the twenties of the last century. It is the only glass center in Poland, the location of which was not determined by the occurrence of glass sands, but a  source of energy - local deposits of natural gas. Krosno, along with the surrounding area, has become one of Europe's largest centers of utility, ornamental and economic, as well as fiberglass production. The city and surrounding area is home to dozens of companies related to the production and decoration of glass. Created here are not only the highest quality consumer products - collections of glasses, vases and decanters, but also unique sculptures, paintings, glass, decorative statues, and even the interior design and glass doors of outstanding embellishments, created with the use of modern fusing method.


Krosno Glass  is the largest glass manufacturer in Poland and one of leading players on the sector world market. Founded in 1923, the company has long-standing experience.
The Krosno glass is produced in two kinds: both as handmade and as formed on automatic production lines. The factory has its own Design Centre, where the world industrial design trends are initiated.
The high quality of the Krosno glassware is widely valued and the company is awarded prestigious prizes and distinctions, including Gold Medals at the International Poznań Fairs and the Promotion Emblem of „Teraz Polska” (Now, Poland). More than 90% of handmade production and about 60% of machine-made products are exported to more than sixty countries. Krosno S.A. was one of the first five Polish companies quoted on the Warsaw Stock Exchange in 1991.
In 2004 Krosglass S.A.was set up as a result of separation of the Glass Fibre Facility from the main Glass Factory



Villa Glass Studio Sp. z o.o. specializes in decorative glass products. Glass doors, being – in fact – a multi-colour low relief, are a novelty product. They are made in the fusing process, in which a glass pane is shaped in high temperatures.


 Investland - a  company specializing in the production of fused glass used in architecture and utility production.

Glass Studio Habrat  - company engaged in production of unique glass sculptures, prestigious statuettes, promotional gifts, glass paintings and decorative elements. Works of the artist Maciej Habrat can be found in many art galleries, including The Corning Museum of Glass in the USA.

Zakład Zdobienia Szkła „Glasmark” Sp. z o.o. (Glass Decorating Works, Ltd) specializes in decorating glassware with the use of various techniques, including: grinding, sanding, engraving, etching, painting and silk-screen printing.

 „Decor”, firm owned by Witold Śliwiński, an artist from Krosno, designs and makes real masterpieces in glass.

Figurines and compositions combining glass with other materials like brass, stone or steel deserve special attention among other artistic works created in the workshop.
The firm designs and produces occasional statuettes and a variety of advertising and promotional items.

„Mika – Glass” is a small family glass-works offering decorative articles to ornament house interiors and gardens. The firm is famous in Poland and in Europe for spectacular shows it holds to demonstrate how the handmade glassware is produced.

Apart from the aforementioned glass-works there are other smaller glassware manufacturers and glass-decorating workshops operating in Krosno and its environs.


Aviation area
Krosno is an important centre of the „Aviation Valley”. Aircraft industry and related sectors are triving. Qualified and experienced engineering staff is the town’s advantage as well as the local airfield which is to be expanded to provide the best possible conditions for the development of the aircraft manufactuting industry businesses.



 Goodrich Aerospace Poland -  manufactures components for civilian and military aircraft landing gears for Boeing, Airbus, Gulfstream, F16, Bombardier. New projects and process engineering solutions are implemented by the company every year to assure the highest possible quality of the products.



Lotnicze Zakłady Produkcyjno – Naprawcze „Aero – Kros”   Sp. z o.o.  The company is heir to the rich tradition and experience of Polish Aero Club in the field of production of aviation equipment and technical maintenance of aircrafts. Its establishment dates back to 1956. Currently, the company manufactures ultralight aircraft of its own design - MP-02 Czajka, characterized by a  long reach and low operating costs, which, combined with the flight parameters and performance contribute to commercial use of these machines to patrol large areas.



FK  Lightplanes Sp. z o.o. - the company manufactures ultralight aircrafts of German design, which are sold all over the world. FK-Lightplanes produces three types of aircraft: FK9 Ela, F12 Comet FK14 Polaris - high-wing, biplane and low wing.
All feature stylish design and low fuel consumption. Extraordinary experience is provided by the 360° panoramic views from the cabin of FK14. The aircrafts are intended for recreational purposes, training and sports.


Ultra-light planes/ aircraft are also manufactured by Przedsiębiorstwo Produkcyjno-Handlowo-Usługowe "EKOLOT" („EKOLOT” Production, Trade and Service Enterprise). The firm produces the following models: JK - 05L Junior, JK - 01A Elf, KR - 030 Topaz. It exports its products to the countries of the European Union, the USA, Canada, the Republic of South Africa, Thailand and Australia.  It was given 1st prize in the category of the „process engineering of the future” for light composite materials to be used in aircraft production, in the 5th edition of the competition: Polski Produkt Przyszłości (Polish Product of the Future), organized by Agencja Techniki i Technologii (Technology and Process Engineering Agency) under the honorary patronage of the Prime Minister.


Wietpol Aeropace - the company operates in the field of manufacturing and services for the metal industry. It specializes in machining, bolts, screws, nuts and o-rings, galvanizing and execution of steel structures. It is the largest sub-supplier of aircraft parts for Goodrich. Among its customers are well-known manufacturers from the aviation, automotive, oil drilling, energy, and furnishing industry operating both on domestic and foreign markets.


Peszke s.c. (civil partnership) is a designer and manufacturer of aircraft paraglide propellers as well as the GP 5 ultra-light plane.


Automotive industry

The automotive industry has settled in Krosno since 1945. It was then that the first plant producing shock absorbers was established here. Today, automotive companies form a  strong branch of the local economy and are among the largest employers in the city.

BWI Poland Technologies is a  company with Chinese capital, a  leading manufacturer of shock absorbers for such brands as BMW, Ford, Volvo, Opel, Land Rover, Peugeot, Citroen, Audi, and Ferrari.


FA Krosno S.A. is a  native manufacturer of gas springs, steering rods and ball joints. Thanks to its own Research and Development laboratory, the company introduces innovative global technologies, production methods and quality control systems.


Cradle of the world oil industry

15 km from Krosno, in the region of Bóbrka, thanks to Ignacy Łukasiewicz and his associates Karol Klobassy-Zrencki and Tytus Trzecieski, in 1854 the oil industry was born. Here was established the world's first rock oil mine, as crude oil was then known. Thus began what today governs and probably long will rule the spheres of influence in global markets.

It was here that a  variety of techniques, technologies and structures were conceived that gave the foundations of the development of many industries of petroleum, geology and exploration, drilling, production, and refining for the distribution of oil and its products. Here was born the industry that has brought the world the tremendous growth of civilization.

A very active Jedlicze Refinery operates nearby. Branches of PGNiG Technologie SA functioning in the city produce equipment and apparatus for the exploitation of oil and gas, drilling platform fittings, steel structures, technically and technologically advanced facilities for the oil and gas industry.

Furniture manufacturing centre

In 1992 Nowy Styl Sp. z o.o. was set up. The corporation manufactures office furniture including chairs, armchairs and other components of a modern office outfit and furnishing. The dynamic growth of the company brought it to the top among the European and worldwide leaders in furniture manufacturing. The Nowy Styl-branded products are exported to more than 60 countries of the world.


Krośnieńskie Fabryki Mebli „Krofam” Sp. z o.o. (Krosno Furniture Factory, Ltd) has had 70-year long tradition. The firm specializes in bathroom, kitchen and children furniture which is largely exported to the European Union countries.


Zakład Meblowy„Wist” (Furniture Workshop) makes customized fitments for furnishing flats and houses, offices, hotels and shops.


„Billkros”is a family establishment producing various types of luxury billiard/snooker tables.


Other industries

Splast Sp. z  o.o. - manufacturer of plastic products. The company deals with professional production of hand-held cleaning equipment and high quality technical details of plastic.

Cellfast S.A.specializes in plastics processing and produces garden hoses and accessories as well as water-spout systems. Cellfast counts among leading players in this industry in Europe.



WSK „PZL – Krosno” S.A. is an enterprise of long tradition in manufacture of gliders and light aircraft landing gears. Nowadays they specialize in manufacturing milk tanks (to be mounted on trucks) and milk cooling devices.



Krośnieńskie Przedsiębiorstwo Budowlane KPB S.A.(Krosno Construction Enterprise, a Joint-Stock Company) has been in business since 1969. The firm, operating in the country at large, is a comprehensive contractor of public buildings and also performs refurbishment projects.


Przedsiębiorstwo Robót Inżynieryjnych i Drogowych in Krosno S.A. (Civil Engineering and Road-Making Enterprise, a Joint-Stock Company) deals with utilities installation and road-making.


Rejon Budowy Dróg i Mostów Sp. z o.o. (Road-Making and Bridges Construction Company, Ltd), operating in the region at large, carries out services in road-making, construction of bridges and repairs thereof.
