Thanks to Swiss funding, the fleet of Krosno’s municipal public transport operator, MKS, will be expanded by 8 new low-floor, zero-emission buses. The purchase agreement between the City of Krosno and EV Motors Sp. z o.o. from Lublin was signed on 21 August.

The modernisation of the municipal public transport infrastructure is being carried out as part of the project “Our Krosno – Green, Entreprising and Co-managed with Residents”, under the initiative “Development of Zero-Emission Transport in the Krosno Functional Urban Area as a Response to Ongoing Climate Change.”

In accordance with the agreement, the buses will be delivered to Krosno within 12 months from the date of signing the contract.

The low-floor buses will be 9.3 metres long, with a maximum range of up to 490 km on a single full charge, energy consumption of 53 kWh per 100 km, and a minimum battery storage capacity of 300 kWh.

Along with the delivery of the King Long buses, EV Motors Sp. z o.o. will:

• supply 8 mobile chargers for charging the buses’ energy storage systems,
• provide workshop equipment required for the maintenance of electric buses, together with the necessary diagnostic and servicing tools,
• grant internal authorisation for servicing and maintaining the buses,
• provide training for 32 employees in the operation of the buses and charging infrastructure,
• implement an electronic passenger information system.

The purchase will be financed in full under the Swiss-Polish Cooperation Programme, and the gross value of the contract amounts to PLN 19,987,500. This is a very important investment for the residents of Krosno and the Krosno Functional Urban Area. The new buses will not only replace the existing fleet with more modern vehicles, but above all will improve travel comfort.

The new buses will be equipped with electric drive systems, which will help reduce emissions and noise during operation. Their quiet operation will be particularly noticeable in the city centre and in densely built-up residential areas. The new fleet will also contribute to increasing the scope of public transport services provided.
