How can you make young people want to work for your company in a few years’ time? The best way is to start today: introduce them to your industry, tell them about different professions, invite them to visit your company and build relationships before they even enter the labour market.

The City of Krosno and the partners of the project “Our Krosno – Green, Entreprising and Co-managed with Residents” invite businesses, institutions and organisations from the Krosno Functional Urban Area to jointly create a network of cooperation with schools.

Why is it worth joining?

Cooperation with schools is an investment that may bring tangible benefits in the future. By participating in the project, businesses can:

• help better align education with the needs of the local labour market and develop the skills of future employees,
• increase company visibility and reach young people before they enter the labour market,
• show students what working in a particular industry looks like and what professional development opportunities it offers,
• encourage students to become interested in specific professions,
• help young people discover career development opportunities available in our region and encourage them to build their future in Krosno and the surrounding area,
• strengthen their image as a responsible employer.

Why was this project created?

Businesses highlight the need for stronger links between education and the realities of the local economy, as well as the challenges associated with recruiting employees. At the same time, many young people have limited knowledge of companies operating in their local area, are unaware of available professions and career paths, or perceive them through stereotypes.

“Research conducted as part of the project confirmed that students want to learn more about local companies, visit workplaces, meet representatives of different professions and find out what career development opportunities the region has to offer,” says Piotr Przytocki, Mayor of Krosno. “The first decisions concerning future careers are shaped while young people are still in education. It is therefore important to give them an opportunity to get to know local employers before they start looking for career opportunities outside the region.”

How can you get involved?

Businesses, institutions and organisations may choose the forms of cooperation that best suit their activities and organisational capacities.

The project will include, among other things:

• visits by students to local employers (“open days”),
• meetings between representatives of various industries and students at schools,
• meetings for parents devoted to planning educational and career paths for children and young people,
• practical demonstrations for students and teachers at vocational schools,
• vocational placements for students of upper-secondary vocational schools.

The scope of cooperation will be adapted each time to the capacities and interests of the individual partner. Each partner will decide independently on the extent of their involvement. Cooperation will be coordinated by the project team to ensure that activities are efficient, well organised and place as little additional burden as possible on participating partners.

Krosno Functional Urban Area Education Partners Network is being created

We are beginning to build a cooperation network within the Krosno Functional Urban Area. One of its key tools will be the Krosno Functional Urban Area Education Partners Catalogue, a database of companies, institutions and organisations interested in cooperation.

The catalogue will be made available to primary and upper-secondary schools in Krosno and in the municipalities of Chorkówka, Jedlicze, Korczyna, Krościenko Wyżne, Miejsce Piastowe and Wojaszówka. It will support the planning of activities related to career guidance, familiarisation with the labour market and cooperation with employers.

“Most of the project activities will be implemented in 2027–2028, but we are already building a group of partners who want to work with us to create a modern system of cooperation between schools and the local economy,” says Miranda Trojanowska, Deputy Mayor of Krosno.

Applications for the first edition of the Krosno Functional Urban Area Education Partners Catalogue will be accepted until 18 September 2026.

After receiving an application, we will contact the partner to discuss further cooperation and include them in the Krosno Functional Urban Area Education Partners Catalogue.
